Branding can be a powerful idea. It tells a story and makes us feel a certain way. With Desert Drew Design, I wanted to make a logo that had a strong name that encapsulated who I am and where I'm from.
I was inspired by the Arizona state flag but wanted to put my personal flair on the color scheme and make it cohesive with my logo mark which is a rising phoenix in the form of my initials, "AS".
Why a rising Phoenix? During the lockdown in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic I had to go through some serious soul searching. At that point in my life I was heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol. It was a chance to reassess my life and admit that I had to basically start over. After a lot of self discovery through a myriad of healthy outlets I have managed to stay sober ever since. I look at it as a do or die moment. It's a moment like a phoenix rising from the ashes. The "AS" insignia and Desert Drew Design flag are symbolic of regeneration and of hope, much like the phoenix or a rising sun is.
I find these to be a relatable symbols because we all go through struggles in life. Life is about how you respond and react when things go a little dark.
