Our instructor wanted us to properly layout a fun "zine" with the Adobe InDesign software. We were prompted to create illustrations of our own and then focus on typography and layout for the assignment.
The zine would then be printed on paper to fold up and be a fun little pocketbook. Zines are trendy fan published magazines so I decided to take a quirky subject and revolve my design around that. At the time I was on a big Kurt Russell movie binge. I thought it would be funny and interesting to make a "barbershop" zine with all of his hairstyles and mustaches in his movie career.
I designed each character page in Adobe Illustrator and then laid them out inside Adobe InDesign with each page typographically matching the mood of the movie. It was fun to change the colors, illustrations, and put badass quotes from one of my favorite actors of all-time.
