This design was an absolute blast. We were required to make a Halloween invitation for a party in class. It had to include an element of typography for the party details and obviously have a spooky theme.
I'm a big horror movie fan and The Exorcist is one of my favorites so I was inspired to make a "levitating" invitation. I designed a background in Photoshop with brushes made from the movie. I created a detailed border to give it a kind of seance vibe and then the second artboard contained the levitating insert that you use a tab to push up to reveal the party details.
I drew the girl on a sketchpad and then used Illustrator to clean it up and lay it out on the push tab with some intricately displayed text. I immediately wanted to do a gothic purple and neon green inspired from the vomit scene in the movie. It's very Halloween. The video shows how the invitation works!
